Today I’m sharing a fun little DIY of sorts for your kids (best for 4 year olds and up)!
Hannah loves to sit at my sewing table while I work. Often she’s playing in her own little world but lately she has been so interested in whatever I’m making, and asks “One day when I’m big like you can I do that?”. Today when she asked, I thought what better time to start than now! So, I decided to let her experiment with a needle and thread with some simple felt shapes. It was a hit! And one day when she is super creative and famous she can say it all started when she was four! Right???
Super Easy Instructions:
1. Find some scrap felt and cut out simple shapes. Ask your child what shapes they would like. It gets them even more excited!
2. Cut a length (not too long) of embroidery floss in a contrasting color. That way your child can see the stitches better!
3. Thread the needle, tie a knot and let them start stitching.
I gave Hannah a little instruction to prevent her from pricking herself but other than that I just let her experiment. The expressions on her face are just priceless!
I hope this inspires you to let your little ones experiment with a needle and some thread!
